2 Year Diploma (DOTT) in Operation Theatre Technology
The Operation Theatre course trains students to maintain and prepare an operation theatre for surgery. They are trained in setting up the OT and instrument trolleys for specific surgeries which include positioning the operation table and patient. Not just that, all students are provided adequate guidance to assist a surgeon during surgery. They are also trained in autoclaving and preparation of sterile supplies required for use in the operation theatre. The average undergraduates in Operation Theatre earn between INR 3 to 5 Lacs per annum.
3 Year Bachelor Degree (B. Voc.) in Operation Theatre Technology
Operation theaters technician prepare and maintain operating theaters and equipment, and assist surgical team during operations. Their main task is to assist Doctor and surgeon, transport patient to and from the theater and ward, arranging instruments and restock the operating room.
This program is identified with all the work and management of the Operation Theater. The program prepares students for managing the patients and in addition to observing the intricate details of an operation theater. During the study, the students are responsible for caring for all the surgical instruments and additionally their disinfection and sterilization. The role is to help the specialist amid operations and take care of the medications, anesthetic gases, curtains, and sterilization necessities during surgery. Smooth working of ICUs, CCUs and Operation theaters in healing facilities and centers, is also taught.
The course prepares students for complete care of the surgical patient, pre and post operation, in the theater and to assist the anesthetist, surgeon or the nurse in various procedures.
B.Voc Operation Theatre Technology
Operation theatre technicians maintain and prepare the operation theatre. They assist the operating team during the operation process. They also help in carrying patients from wards to operation theatres and operation theatres towards. Arranging instruments for surgery and restocking the operating room are some of the other functions performed by operation theatre technicians.
Bachelor's Degree (B. Voc.) in Operation Theatre Technology Course Details
A paramedical degree course prepares the candidates for managing patients and learning about operation theatre. They also learn to handle surgical instruments along with disinfection and sterilization of the instruments.
B.Voc Operation Theatre Technology Eligibility
- The candidates who have completed their 10+2 (or equivalent) with subjects like Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.
- A minimum 50% percentile is required in 12th grade.
B.Voc OTT Course Duration:
The duration of the course is three years. A total of 6 semesters are there.
